Overview

Attackers try to collect Outlook credentials, with a fake efax e-mail

Explanation

In this phishing attack, threat actors are trying to collect Outlook credentials. The phishing e-mail contains an eFax theme to lead potential victims to think they have a PDF eFax to download.

When clicking on the ‘VIEW DOCUMENT’ link, a fake Outlook login page is presented. Note that the link in the address bar is not associated with Outlook. Entering any kind of credentials, will result in an error.

The goal of this phishing attack is to collect Outlook email credentials.

Prevention

If you are uncertain about the authenticity of an email, do not hesitate to contact the entity that seems to have sent you the email using a safe communication manner, using the phone for example (no phone number from the untrusted email must be used in order to verify the authenticity).
