Explanation
The goal of this phishing campaign is to steal personal data, credit card information as well as LuxTrust information.
The email claims that access to BILnet will be deactivated in a few days, and that personal data needs to be confirmed as soon as possible to prevent this. By clicking on the ‘Accéder à mon espace’-button, you are redirected to a malicious website. First, you need to solve a math problem (correctly) to proceed. After that, you are informed about the supposedly necessary steps to prevent deactivation. This includes verifying personal data, entering credit card information, and authenticating via LuxTrust. These and subsequent views can be displayed in Luxembourgish, English, French, Portuguese, and Dutch.
Initially, the LuxTrust credentials are requested. Next, the user is asked to provide a lot of private information, such as name, date of birth, email address, phone number, and address. Then, credit card information needs to be entered. Finally, the user is informed that the supposed update of information has been completed successfully.
All the steps have taken place on pages under the malicious domain ‘bilnet.lu-bil[.]com’ .
